You can get hepatitis B virus (HBV) by having unprotected sexual contact with someone who has it. Contact with semen, blood, vaginal discharge etc. also increases the risk of getting HBV. HBV infection may remain asymptomatic until signs and symptoms develop secondary to serious liver damage. People fail to clear the virus will develop chronic hepatitis B (CHB), which is a lifelong infection and may lead to acute liver failure. About 15-40% of untreated people with CHB could develop cirrhosis and liver cancer^.

The result will appear after 20 minutes. Result appearing after 21 minutes is invalid. The hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) tester uses the colloidal gold method to test, using highly specific antibody-antigen reaction and immunochromatographic analysis technology. The tester contains a detection area (T) and a quality control area that are pre-fixed on the membrane. (C) Antibodies. During detection, a blood sample is dropped into the sample area (S), and the blood sample reacts with the anti-HBsAg monoclonal antibody bound to pre-coated colloidal gold particles. The mixture then chromatographs upwards under the capillary effect. If it is positive, the colloidal gold antibody first binds to HBsAg in the blood sample during the chromatography process, and then the conjugate will be bound to the HBsAg antibody fixed on the membrane, and a purple-red line will appear in the detection area (T). This purple-red line is formed by the combination of the HBsAg antibody-HBsAg-gold-labeled particle complex on the membrane. If it is negative, there will be no purple-red line in the detection area (T). Regardless of whether HBsAg is present in the blood sample, a purple-red line will appear in the control area (C). The purple-red line appearing in the quality control area (C) is the standard to determine whether there are enough samples or whether the chromatography process is normal. It is also used as the internal control standard of the Doctoreyes tester.
Please consult medical attention at once.
Negative result does not guarantee that no TP antibody is in low concentration. Thus the test should be repeated at a future time.
